SO SHORT!!!

So, I went to Cookie Cutters to get Emma's hair cut yesterday.  I had previously made an appointment for 3:00 specifically so that we could have a woman named Theresea cut her hair.  However, when we got there, Theresea was not there so we had to have someone else do it.  When I told her what I wanted, she showed me about how much she was going to cut off.  It looked pretty good to me so I gave the go ahead.  She made the first cut and I thought it was a little shorter than she had first showed me, but it wasn't so bad, so I figured it would be alright.  By this time, Matthew was getting really heavy so I went and sat down on a chair and started looking at a book.  By the time I turned back to look at Emma again, her hair was SO SHORT!  I couldn't believe how short she had cut it.  It was way shorter than what she had shown me before she started cutting!  But, what do ya do?  It's not like I could tell her to glue it back on, so oh well.  It does look cute, but it is just way shorter than I wanted.  Oh well, hair grows, I just wish it wasn't right before the family pictures.  However, life will go on and it does look cute.  Anyway, here are some pictures of her new hair cut.  I had a hard time getting her to sit still for very long, but at least you can see her hair cut.

Look how short the back is!!!

This is her "cheese" face!

At least it does look cute!

I thought I'd take some pictures of Matthew's  faux-hawk as long as I was in picture taking mode.

I love the look on his face in this picture!  He's such a cutie.

Looks like he's been spending a little too much time with Uncle Jon!  :)

Hats, hats and more hats!!

Here are some cute pics we took a couple days ago.  Daniel has all these random hats from somewhere, so we thought we'd let the kids try them on.  Emma wasn't so sure about them, but Matthew seemed to like them.

Of course I am franch, why do you sinc I have zees outrageous franch accent you silly English man.

Shoulda been a cowboy!

Son you got a panty on your head!

I guess Emma does not want to be a trapper.  Let's be honest here, the coon skin hat is pretty hideous.  I really think the only reason Daniel gets it out is to bug me. :)

Our little cowgirl.  This one looks much cuter than the coonskin hat.

They seek him here, they seek him there.  Those Frenchies seek him everywhere...

Huh!?!  It wasn't me, it was the hairy one!

I love being a mommy

My sweet little Matthew is a serious "mama's boy."  I went and got my hair cut yesterday and Tamara watched my children while I was gone.  Both Emma and Matthew were asleep when I left and when Matthew woke up, she went in to get him.  He looked at her and frowned, then turned away!  He did let her get him up however, and he wasn't terribly fussy.  I came home about 1/2 hr. later.  He was sitting on the ground with a chair blocking the view so I couldn't see him.  As I came around the chair into his view he looked up.  His face immediately lit up and he gave this enormous grin.  He then reached both hands high in the air for me.  I picked him up and he totally snuggled with me.  He just kept pulling away and looking at me, then going back to snuggling.  Now remember, he is not a snuggly boy, so it makes me very happy to get snuggles from him.  Anyway, it was really precious and it really made my day.

Here is a picture of my haircut and my cute little ones.  I like this hair cut much better than the last one.  Happy day!

More Funny Emma Phrases

My sweet little Matthew is a very picky eater.  Nursing is the only liquid beverage option he will take, and he would not take any solids at all until about 2 weeks ago when I finally got him to take applesauce.  The other day I tried again in vain to get him to eat some sweet potatoes which he of course hated.  So, I was back to applesauce today.  Emma however remembered that he didn't like the sweet potatoes and said, "Mama, he doesn't like the tato-sauce."

Other than that funny moment, I didn't do a whole lot.  I did get my hair cut today, so the back doesn't look like a seriously bad "bowl" cut.  Yippee!

Funny Emma phrases!

Okay, I am not the most interesting person, so I'll just write some funny things that Emma said today.

I asked her what she did in school today and she said, "I did Apple Johnnyseed!" (Johnny Appleseed).

Later on, she was talking about something and she said "It's a sacred beauty." (sacred duty from "I love to see the temple.")  I started laughing, and she looked at me solemnly and said, "Mommy, don't laugh about sacred beauty."

After that we had gone to the rental center to see how it looked.  Emma has been waiting for them to put the door on forever and they finally had one on today.  However, there was no doorknob or anything yet, so she pointed out to us that there was no lock yet.  She was excited about the door though.  Later, we called Daniel to say goodnight since he is out of town.  She said, "Daddy, you put the door on today, but you forgot to get the lock."  I'm sure Daniel had no idea what she was talking about since he didn't know about the door and lack-of-lock situation.  It was cute that she thought he had put the door on.

This wasn't today, but a month or two ago, we were walking through the parking lot to go in and see my grandmother.  It had been raining and the ground was wet.  There was a place where oil had leaked from a car so it was rather colorful.  She pointed to it and said, "Look guys, the rainbow fell down."  It was darling.

Anyway, kids say some funny things!!  Goodnight!

Emma's First day of preschool

Emma stared preschool last Tuesday. I almost didn't want to take her because that means she won't be my baby anymore. She was excited however, and I did end up taking her. By the time we got there, she wasn't quite as excited. Just before I left she said "Don't go mommy!" I felt so bad leaving her there because she just looked so tiny and fragile. I can't be there to protect her and it's just a little tough to let go. I know, it's only preschool Emilee, it's not like she's joining the army or anything. At any rate, I did survive and I guess she didn't miss me too much because by the time I got back, she was running around and playing and having a good time.

She wanted to wear her styling pink sunglasses!

I guess this must have been her little "Happy Dance!"  Yeah, she was pretty excited!

Okay, I finally got a normal one of her just saying "cheese"!

She was a little nervous, but she sat and pretended to color.

Doesn't she just look so tiny and fragile?  Okay, maybe that's just because I am her mother!  She actually said that a boy pushed her and took her toy on her second day of preschool.  However, she said she took it right back from him, so I guess even if she is tiny and fragile, she is not helpless.  I just hope this is not the beginning of fights in school.  :)

Perhaps some day I will be more faithful!

Daniel went out of town again today. ~sigh~ Looks like another long week ahead. However, I went to the CES broadcast tonight and listened to Elder Holland speak. I really connect with Elder Holland and I love to hear him speak. He talked about Joseph and Liberty Jail. He spoke about how it has been called a temple prison and said that it was a temple for Joseph because it was building him and that we were blessed as well through the revelations he received there. (D&C 121, 122 123) He said that each and every one of us will have to go through our own "Liberty Jail" spiritually speaking. I thought about how I have been having a hard time with Daniel being gone so much lately and realized that the Lord is building Daniel and I as well. I don't know what the outcome is going to be of going through these trials, but I know that whatever it is, it will be what is best for us. Thus, perhaps instead of saying ~sigh~ about Daniel being out of town, I should say "YEA! Another chance for me to grow!!! :) . . . ~sigh~ perhaps some day I will be that faithful. :)

P.S. Elder Holland's talk was wonderful, I would highly recommend reading it when it is published!
